President Joe Biden has approved a major disaster declaration for Louisiana due to Hurricane Ida, allowing federal money to be used in recovery efforts.

The declaration covers all of the parishes in the southeastern part of the state.

For homeowners, federal assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses and similar programs. For local governments, in can help pay for debris removal and emergency protective measures.
